I will learn how to be more prepared for a flea market next time.
But despite the horrid humidity which almost killed us all, having to stand from start to end because we decided to sacrifice our chairs to support the cheap bins of clothes instead, and being in a frenzy cuz we were too relaxed having our coffee at Dome while other booths were setting up, and weren’t ready when Fleatique opened to the public officially, and being locked out of the NTUC income building carpark resulting in a $20 fine just to exit in the end – I really had a fabulous time bonding with the girls and more importantly finally clearing some of the clothes I’ve been intending to, for the longest time.
The ironic statement which Sam & I came out with was that, we were selling our expensive stuff (at insanely cheap prices)…only to buy cheap stuff during our BKK shop trip next weekend! We sure are a pair of insane cousins.
The hugest mistake (but beneficial one?) – while everyone else were selling brand new items from BKK/wholesale from $25 – $30 onwards (which we only found out when we went to shop around the flea much later on), we were selling designer items from $2 – $4, with fantastic dresses we bought originally at $100+ going at $10.
And believe or not, we are talking designer items: Chanel wool vest (yes, for the nth time, its 100% authentic), Denimbirds jeans, 7 for all mankind jeans, Anna sui clothes, Calvin Klein dress, Sportsgirl, Polo Ralph Lauren, french cotton dresses, brand new H&M; dresses + other great quality jackets, skirts, pants, belts at those prices. Not forgetting the $1.00 shoes (some were in never-worn-before condition) which were completely sold.
Our hearts ached as we saw customers glee at their lovely finds from our cheap bins, but also smiled – knowing that our pre-loved clothes were going to these very stylish fashionistas, and that they were going to do justice to those threads and wear it well. 🙂
It was no doubt tiring, considering all of us had a full work-day prior to the flea, but a very good & fruitful activity.
Thanks for lending us the support, mummy & Kris, and sitting through the humidity & ocassional boredom with us. 😉
For now, I’m flea-ed out.
Till the next…
