The dreaded day of having to go past a second over a quarter-of-a-century old came. And boy did it suck.
The first gifts I received just moments into the “start-of-mid-life-crisis” age were everything I didn’t expect – the fever, flu and sore throat bug. And it sure was some nasty thing that warrant a 2-day bed rest (later leading to a 3rd day).
This also meant no nice celebrations with the husband on the special day, and not feeling as bubbly as I intended to be. Which felt worse than developing more pimples and more fine lines.
Got my way in the end – he eventually gave in near 9pm and took me out for a quick bite. Never mind I didn’t have much of a colour or any appetite – I was absolutely thrilled that I got to make a birthday wish and eat a birthday cake!!!
Its absolute tradition that I always get a slice of cake before or on the day so 2010 was NOT going to be any different [birthday wishes are too important to pass on and wait for another year!]
Needless to say, I was utterly satisfied at the short yet memorable evening. Off to bed I went shortly after: happy and full of meds.
