Guess something

March 14, 2012 by natasha 2 Comments

Have you been on Draw Something – the latest addictive social drawing game where you draw & guess words with friends competitively.

Well, I have and in the past 2 weeks in between while waiting for someone, or just moments after waking up or before hitting the sheets, I usually play a few turns with some friends. Although I do feel I’m better at guessing than drawing on my tiny iPhone screen with my fat finger (vs. those cheatabuggers friends who uses a stylus and draw on their bigger samsung note or galaxy tab or even the iPad). Plus it does suck at times when I need more colors like green and don’t have enough credits to purchase any.

So anyway, today my cousin drew something for me to guess and I was stumped.

I typed ‘DOGSHED’, ‘PETHOSE’ (realizing that wasn’t any ‘U’), DOGSCATS (but there wasn’t an ‘A’) and soon got a little frustrated that this was starting to affect my mojo of guessing drawings (I was on a roll for a bit).

So I texted my cousin and asked what that was about and he apologized for his drawing – which I must say was already unnecessary because his drawing was waaaay better than my lazy & ugly drawings.

Anyhow, he soon text me another image and asked me if he had drawn this (refer to bottom image) instead, would I have been able to guess it?

Ooh. P-E-T-S-H-O-P.

Why wasn’t I able to guess it? Hmm I guess cause the shop cousin drew looked more like a kennel or a house, no?

But boy was there much effort put in this one. Even if you gave me an iPad and a stylus and a whole range of colours, don’t think I could have put in such amount of effort especially since I’m no good at drawing (always passing ART subject by a few points).

And then cousin sent me a link to view other drawings from this same dude.

Impressive, much?

Would you have been able to guess these?

Although I’ve got to admit, this whole ‘Draw Something’ game does bring out the artist you either have or don’t have in you.

Wonder if my drawing/guessing streak can last till labour day to keep me busy. Hmm.

Hello, I’m Natty

Hey there, and welcome!

I’m Natty – a full time working mom in the media industry, and one who mom-guilts a fair bit. I am known for throwing ridiculously last minute yet spectacular (by my standards) birthday parties for my kids, hunting down places to entertain the kids with, and sometimes advice my fellow parenting bloggers and marketers on advertising rates and formats with my media hat.

When I’m not snoozing on any of my kids’ bed while winding them down for bedtime, I’m here blogging about parenthood, family travels, last minute party preps and broaching ‘usually unspoken’ topics which I believe needs to be shared more of – such as fertility challenges, the ups and downs of marriage life, learning how to exercise self-compassion, parenting truths, and adulting (the real 30-something sort, not the millennial’s definition).

I’m no pinterest or helicopter mom, so don’t expect stylised photos and curated stories in this space.

Also, if you have any party-related questions like where I ordered that gorgeous chiffon birthday cake from, you can start by reading ‘Diary of a Party Mum’ page. Else, feel free to drop me a note, query or connect with me on Instagram @so.nattyb or email me at sonattyb@gmail.com
