By mommy standards, I had a not too good day today.
My friends on Facebook would know that I spent 4 hours this morning searching every drawer, plastic bag, the diaper bag, boxes, cabinets, table, clutter for the little man’s health booklet umpteen times, to find everything else BUT the health booklet.
And this was obviously my own doing.
For the past 9.5 months I’ve done a decent job of being a little “Martha Steward-ish” when it came to organizing important documents for the family (o, what motherhood does to one), that inevitably I’ve grew reliant & assumed that my subconscious would somehow place any documents taken out back to their rightful place.
Hence the panic when health booklet was neither in the bedside-drawer-for-times-Im-simply-too-lazy-to do anything about keeping stuff properly. Nor in the diaper bag where it was last seen. Nor in the dedicated file sitting in the dedicated drawer for the little man.
And as with all obsessions and proving one’s self right usually works out, the entire hunt resulted in me leaving the little fella in his cot to roll & crawl about for a long long time. I must have heard him shake the rattle which was meant to occupy him for some 40 minutes before doing the next round of crawls & rolls and looking really bored.
“thank goodness for music class with his favourite teacher later, that’ll make up to him”, I thought to myself.
But of course I had to be late for music class too :\
The chungkin enjoyed whatever was left of his lesson nonetheless, wide grins & hearty laughs the moment we stepped in as he heard her sing. Phew.
Potential-blah-day averted…until I got a little caught up with grocery shopping post music class. And decided to take the train home instead of hopping into a cab. And inadvertently delayed his dinner by 40 minutes because I wanted to cook cauliflower baked with cheese . Which led to a late bath & bedtime milk.
But you know what, for all the misgivings I had I think the boy had a great time today. I could tell, just by cheeky grin he wore & the look he had in his eyes just before bedtime. He even asked for a snuggle with those little arms.
I guess by his standards, it wasn’t such a bad day after all.
EDIT: And it was in the car!!! WLE!
