It was one of those weekends where I barely recovered from a horrid round of fever, cold and really bad throat (manuka honey UMF 25+ FTW!) as a result of eating too much CNY goodies prematurely and just wanted to laze in for the whole weekend yet I couldn’t bear to do so, with the crazy agenda lined-up – sending and exchanging home made goodies being arranged, getting last minute errands done…and so my recent weekend went by in a sort of blur.
My 2 very healthy boys did enjoy every bit of the weekend though – the big one tired out by more spring cleaning and making several trips to donate our good-conditioned goods to the various organizations, while the little one soaked it up at a morning play date, at a girlfriend’s baby’s one-month party that evening, a round of chinatown the following day and then a visit to his grand godma’s. It was pure hectic. I just wished I had brought along a proper camera instead of relying my low-battery life iPhone to capture whatever I could.
It’s officially the last weekend in the year of the Snake, which means the year of the Horse is just 4 days away. While I dare not imagine how busy our first weekend in the Chinese New Year is probably going to be (with our little man pushing his boundaries each time and the mess he creates at the homes we’ve visited so far :\), I’m excited at the gatherings, the catching up, the steamboats, the celebrations (someone’s turing 30 over CNY!) and just taking in all the chinese-ness of it. There’s just something so joyous about celebrating Chinese New Years, especially if you have big, extended families from both sides!
Have a lovely week!
