The initial intention I had for the first half of today was to work. Not by choice but out of obligation & responsibility which didn’t matter anyway because it didn’t happen.
I didn’t have the heart to reject my chirpy 2.y.o greeting me “good morning mummy!”, followed by a kiss planted on my cheeks and then asking if I could take him on a train ride and to the playground – the 2 things I’ve been promising him all week that we’ll get to when mummy doesn’t have to go to work…which he’s cleverly linked to it being on a non-school day.
Obviously a very smart-ass, strategic move on his part with the smooches and happy liners being delivered first to get me in the mood but yes, it worked like a charm. SON-1 vs WORK-0
The boy got more than his fair share of train and bus rides thanks to his maternal grandma (porpor) who kindly offered to take him while the Bo & I did a much needed grocery run. After a good nap which we all benefitted from, we headed to an outdoor space that was new to all of us: West Coast Park. The little fella was so thrilled to bits, he was practically sprinting from structure to structure, giggling in excitement as he explored the new grounds for a good hour before the heat and exhaustion consumed us. It was such great family fun at a relatively low cost (counting parking charges and a much needed big cup of drink) that I wished there were more of these outdoor parks available near where we live. Or perhaps we should start considering a place in the west…
