Sorry for the radio silence for the last few weeks! It’s been a very busy one. Work has been occupying me till the mid-afternoons; after which more often than not I rush back to take Ollie out for some fun (realising that he’s hitting 1 year-old mark too soon!) before rushing back again to pick Liam up and taking him on a bus or train ride (because we got to try to be as fair as possible right? :p).
And of course, there’s party plans in between which caught me in last-minute madness. Despite attempting to outsource as much as I could for the first time, I almost forgot to confirm catering (thankfully a cater was willing to take my orders in at the eleventh hour) and ended up having to rope a gf and 2 other staff’s help in packing goodie bags just minutes before the start of the party. Lesson definitely learnt for that one – no more on-the-spot packing of goodie bags. It set my heart racing faster than I could manage. Heh and I ended up not being able to find some 10 of them until 4 hours later…
So! GE2015 came and went huh. And Ollie’s first birthday celebration felt similar – 9 days of haphazard party preparations whenever I was taking a break to read on the latest campaigning updates leading up to the big day. Unlike Liam’s first birthday which I spent about 2 months conceptualising and slowly putting things together – then again, we had the comfort of hosting Liam’s first at our then-home. I will probably get a party planner should I ever decide to throw another birthday party again.
We hosted Oliver his FIRST Birthday Party today and I’m thrilled that we managed to pull off a successful “Peanuts and Snoopy” Birthday theme despite working with various vendors separately who hadn’t done this elusive theme prior. Will share more about it on the blog when I get the proper birthday photos (hehe, didn’t manage to put together a proper phonebook for Ollie this time round, but a dedicated blog post? I definitely should).
I regretted not slinging my phone across me though so that I can capture “preview” photos of the party then again, I would have missed out those key seconds just focusing on having a quality conversation with our party guests. Yay to awesome party guests who sent some photos my way! Here’s sharing some because I know some of you are excited to view photos as I am!
Coupled with some that I managed to take of my own while our last guests were happily waiting for their balloon request to be created by this super awesome balloon guy (he even does his sculptures helium style!)
Definitely hope to start finding time to start writing again in the coming week. Enjoy the rest of the weekend! xo.
