It was a special month for me because it was Ollie’s birth month. Seeing how our little Ollie grew from the pint size cutie that he was when we brought him to our new home to the chubby, cheeky boy that he’s grown to become made my heart weep with joy and contentment. Oh how I wished I could re-live moments from his first 12 months again & again!
It was also a significant month for me because it was the first year anniversary since our little family of 4 broke away from the mothership (and became “independent”). Heh. And while change hasn’t been easy to deal with in the last year, with some reminders hurting more than others; our tight-knit family grew closer through acceptance, embracement and adapting to the changes together. It’s been truly a baptism of fire for us, and I’m grateful that we stood up to it rather well. The boys hug and make up way more times than they fight now. And the only person in the world that can get Oliver to let out a super long grandpa-sounding chuckle is none other than his big brother, Liam (which also explains my featured photo in this post).
Then in between everything, the unexpected happened. GE2015 happened. The insane busyness of work happened. Rekindling of old friendships happened. Haze happened (along with sniffles, coughs, and the whole onset of respiratory symptoms). Last minute birthday party planning happened. Attending other birthday parties every other weekend happened. The husband needing to fly out of town for a last minute business trip happened. Solo parenting happened…along with a very fulfilling week of spending quality time with people who mattered – like the boys’ godma. A much welcomed respite indeed.
Before I knew it, the month was over. And here we are, saying hello to October!
