Today was probably THE most boring Sunday spent in the year.
First, I had some work to complete so I was stuck at home from morning till about 2pm, struggling miserably on a very slow laptop which I haven’t used in ages (I really miss the ex-company’s slightly faster IBM notebook…)
Then I got chased by the husband to get ready because he needed to be on standby from 3pm to 9pm for work and it was mandatory to report within 15 minutes after being activated (which sounds totally military to me…)
We then realized that after walking around the entire mall 3 times, we only managed to while away 45 minutes (and that included some waiting time to try on clothes which we got at 70% off!!!)
So we decided to have coffee and sat there for 2 hrs…which I soon gave up and volunteered to buy some pen and paper so that we could doodle for another 40 minutes…
And then we decided to pay Harvey Norman another visit for the 2nd time, and spent even more time just checking out almost every section possible – from laptops to televisions to fridges
Then it was time for dinner! Hooray. But our food was served rather promptly, so we took our mouthfuls really slowly.
By then it was 8.30 (just 30 minutes shy of stand down time), so the husband decided to order dessert – something he does not do very often.
We called for the bill at 9pm, all happy and ready to plan our TV time for the night. The husband was all set & ready to head home, but he needed to verify for official instructions to leave.
Happiness was soon short-lived because just minutes after, he received a SMS that he couldn’t leave just yet.
He asked me to drive home first, but I really wanted to accompany him. And the sad thing was that – all the shops were closing too! This meant we couldn’t even down a 3rd cup of coffee, even if we wanted to force it down our throats.
I soon left at about 9.30pm, starting to feel weary despite doing nothing much! I guess waiting can tire down a person too. Plus I needed to be home to prepare for a long day and early start tomorrow.
Its been an hour since I left, and I still haven’t heard from the bobo. I hope he’s hanging in there okay…
