I’m writing this down because I want to document and remind myself of 2 very kind random acts I received today from 2 very kind
No drama involved but earlier today when I alighted from the cab and the driver just lifted the pram out of the boot and left the rest to me to manage, leaving me to use only free hand to drag it along with a 10kg baby in the other hand alongside lugging a diaper bag (all we supermoms!), this very kind lady (whom I’m assuming was with her little girl) who was in the taxi queue went forth without hesitation & helped me with the pram. She even assisted in opening up the pram seat proper, proceeding to dust away crumbs from the seat (which I was utterly embarrassing about since those were Liam’s crumbs!) till it was crumb-free despite me saying “it’s okay”. Sweet, sweet lady.
Then while on our way to the train station, there was another lady who saw me carrying Liam in one arm and using the other to maneuver the pram on the escalator, and gently tap me asking “dear, can I help you with anything?”. “Who? Me? I’m okay, thanks for asking!” in my supermom tone, before thanking her once again after we landed.
Simple, simple acts I know. But those gestures blew me away with their kindness. In the busyness of life, rare that people whom you don’t even have 6 degrees of separation with bother themselves with you. Perhaps it was Liam’s charm or maybe I was indeed screaming “helpless mom”. Whatever the case, I’m thankful for these gracious folks who makes society a more delightful place.
Which brings me to my next random thought…what if I didn’t have a baby and was lugging lots of bags/stuff instead?
Still grateful nonetheless.
