After yesterday’s trial session of right brain learning + being conducted in Mandarin for the young man which left me exhausted both mentally and physically and having 2 back-to-back celebrations with 2 different group of friends for their achievements – I’m beat.
Thankfully the Bo doesn’t need to go in and work today after all (because going into the pool twice in a week with my bub, as warm and nice as the water is and as fun as it is, is not cool) after working clocking a week of late nights although my day still started at 7am this morning with Liam saying “mama..APP-pur” pointing to a book that taught him the word apple.
I’m still getting over yesterday’s mandarin class. It got me wishing I had exposed him to the language earlier (or rather when he didn’t know how to walk yet so he couldn’t run away from the activities), made me think I should make a more conscious effort to converse in mandarin with him and made me appreciate introducing the language to him now (as opposed to when he’s 5 and tells me he ‘hates’ it). As the entire duration of the class was conducted in mandarin, I struggled reiterating the instructions to him, explaining what had to be done for the activities since I’m not great in the language myself but was surprised that he enjoyed the batches of flash cards on food, math, animals, planets, plants. He enjoyed the chinese songs which were sung with the aid of flash cards too, so I guess I can’t stay mad at him not knowing what his Chinese name was and not responding appropriately when he was being called :/ As with removing flags from all the planets that they learnt about when they were supposed to keep it stuck on.
Meanwhile, it’s the weekend again! I love how quickly it’s passing, week after week! The night festival ends tonight and if you’re looking for some plans to spend a Saturday night, that’s where you should be 🙂
(p/s: you may want to dress light as I was reeking of perspiration just standing amongst the crowd there last night)
(p.p.s: my good friend Magicbabe Ning is performing the ultimate inversion, attempting the world’s first ever tandem upside down strait jacket escape with JC Sum)
I’m praying for good weather too because we’re thinking of visiting the park again and sip our takeaway coffees while Liam runs and explores.
Have a quirky weekend!
