Few are the days where NATAS/Travel & IT fairs would get me all excited. I can’t remember when’s the last time I actually went for one – too often the thought of having to navigate a pram amidst a sea of so-what-if-you-have-a-baby-in-tow crowd, booming sounds from the surround speakers all around shouting “BEST BUY FOR THE HOUR!” and say a thousand “excuse meeeee” kills my anticipation of nabbing a good deal.
But invite me to a baby/parenting expo and I’d gleefully attend. At least you know the crowds at these fairs are tad bit more understanding in giving way, or they might try seeing how helpless you look pushing the pram with one hand, having the baby in the carrier, and lugging along plastic bags of deals on both wrists all alone. Plus you don’t have to deal with different folks shouting hourly specials all at the same time in both yours and baby’s ears 😀
Perhaps it’s because my little boy is growing up too quickly and outgrowing babyhood necessities but the recent baby fairs have been disappointing. So I hear, from “intel” who texts me not to bother making a trip down because “there’s nothing much”… before I even decide if I should cook up an excuse to look for something that Liam might need.
So when Rise & Shine informed me details about their upcoming expo (which is this weekend!), I got really excited. From premium brands (and I mean, the finest ones that I absolutely adore & love which is too many for me to list here else I would!) to those specializing in kids’ health, education, sports, nutrition etc – it sounds like a dream come true for someone (me! me!) whose been wishing for everything from education to physical activities to health and bargain buys to be under one roof. Also because I’m exhausted from running about with a 11kg baby.
Some of my friends are aware how busy I’ve been of late, doing more-than-my-fair share of school tours, education trial classes, sports trial classes with my soon-to-be-18-months-old boy whose learning things quicker than I can take note so really, I couldn’t be more thankful for how timely (like this weekend!) this Rise & Shine expo is.
Unlike past baby fairs that I’ve attended, I’m looking forward to taking away some parenting tips from the various speakers (I’ve my eye on a few in particular), and getting a decent comparison on the different pre-school education systems out there (vs. simple homeschooling that I’ve been doing).
If your kid is a Nickelodeon fan, you might be interested to know there’s also a Meet & Greet with characters Dora the Explorer, Go, Diego, Go! And Ni Hao, Kai-lan in addition to colouring, belly beautiful expectant mums, babies & toddlers contests and a lucky draw with more than $10,000 worth of prizes to be won.
And if you’re an early riser, why not head down early and be one of the first 500 visitors to grab a goodie bag 🙂
Admission is free and the exhibition’s at Suntec Convention Hall 401 & 402. I love how I can pop by H&M right after the event!
Remember, it all starts this Friday – 27th September onwards till 29th September Sunday.
Disclaimer: I was not compensated to write this shout-out. I took part as a Rise & Shine partner blogger and will be entitled to a goodie bag, door gift and a pass to attend some seminars that I’m interested in during the event. All opinions expressed are my own.
