I love it when actual birthdays fall on weekends because that means we can celebrate it nice & slow all day long.
Today was mum’s birthday and Liam kicked it off by FaceTiming and sending her a video of him singing “Happy Birthday to you” – HE SANG ALL 4 LINES WITHOUT ERRORS (albeit off tune) AND FINISHED IT OFF WITH A KISS ALL BY HIMSELF AND NO PROMPTS #proudmamamoment – upon me telling him that it was porpor’s birthday today when he woke up this morning.
Next, we sprang a surprise on the birthday mum right after church (with the help of family members stalling for time thankfully!) with a lovely rainbow cake layered with cream cheese and completed with confetti sprinkles. I had told mum that we would meet her straight at the restaurant for her birthday brunch celebration and so she didn’t expect to see her grandson at the door shouting in “Happy Birthday Porpor!” and a cake that was as gorgeous as her.
Being the ever thoughtful and generous mum & grandma that she is, she requested for a “Liam will approve” venue of choice for her birthday brunch and so we headed to the newly re-opened Playhouse @ Rochester, where the person having the most fun was our little fella despite the sweltering heat. He had such a swell time checking out the lovely selection of quality toys in their new outdoor section and having the entire play area to himself that he was really hesitant to leave even after 2 hours! Thankfully porpor had her way of distracting him and off we headed home for a much needed rest where her next surprise would happen.
BR appeared at our door soon after… bearing another birthday cake, well wishes and gifts – something mum didn’t expect again and it was such a wonderment witnessing how much she was loved even by my dearest friends.
So that pretty much sums up mum’s birthday today. It wasn’t a fancy celebration but one filled with loads of love and well intentions.
Happy Birthday to the mum who sacrificed so much to bring me up, going the distance for her family and grandson ever so often, never hesitating to lend us support in all sort of ways and for being such a pillar of strength through our emotional warfares.
Happy Birthday to the grandma who spends all of her spare time to spend with her grandson, volunteering to bond with him through classes, constantly pampering him with train rides, bus rides or anything that puts a big smile on his face, and being ever so patient and loving with him despite his testy attempts.
Happy Birthday to the lady who taught me about God, being independent, loving myself first before I can love others better, and always keeping positive thoughts.
Happy birthday to my mum who never fails to pray for me & my family every day & night, or tell us how much she loves us.
Happy birthday mummy, you’ve done so much for us. More than I know I can ever repay you. I love you. xo
