We embraced the start of May with a slew of activities. Liam busied himself by building Thomas x Chuggington train tracks and re-enacting scenes he’s been watching from Youtube (toy demo videos) while the adults indulged in some BBQing of gourmet meats and seafood. Ooh la la!
On Saturday, we decided to hit the beach with our friends – who did one of the best things ever – brought along a big cooler of cheese, wine, ham, honey oat bread, yakult for the kids and juice for the ladies which complimented our assortment of chips. While the kids frolic under the more-forgiving sun and played with sand till their heart’s content, the adults lazed on picnic mats snacking and chatting away. Everyone had such a good time, we didn’t leave till some 3 and a 1/2 hours later till it got too dark to find our flip flops (we ended up not being able to find one of the kid’s slippers because it was buried under sand) and we started getting visits from all sorts of flies.
Surprised mum with flowers and cake on Sunday after church with a gorgeous customized cake from my usual baker. This time, it was lemon lime meringue with ombre sides which tasted as good as my favourite tart version, without the heaviness of pastry. I’ve ordered Ondeh Ondeh, Horlicks x Earl Grey, Lemon/Lime flavours from them in the last 5 months, and so far none of the flavours have disappointed. Chuffed that mum really liked it, and that it made her grin so widely seeing us appear out of nowhere to do a simple gesture which meant so much to her. Happy Birthday mum – you know how much we love you and are grateful for everything that you’ve done and continue to do for me and the boys. Here’s wishing you a speedy recover from that awful bout of cough and throat pain that you’re going through and another wonderful year ahead full of love, laughter, adventures and best health.
3 weeks till the next long weekend! Hooray!
