Not sure if it rings true for you, but the thing about stay home mums like me and another who take public transport most of the time is that when one of us gets access to the car, we make sure we MILK it as much as possible. We’ll go to places where taking a public transport to is not as direct or straightforward, and we try to cramp in as many out-of-the-way-but-on-the-list spots to go to as possible.
So last weekend when Bumble Bee mum texted that she had the car and have been meaning to check out a cafe at arab street, I knew I had to join in on the adventure.
We arrived at La Marelle cafe, a whimsically decorated cafe which got us wow-ing a lot. Being the social gram and blogger mums that we were (with Cel from kidsonboard joining us for brunch too), we whipped out our phones and cameras, and clicked away even before we placed our orders.
La Marelle had a breakfast set promotion and so three of us ordered different items to share just in case any of the items fell below our expectations like the hard-as-biscuit scones.
Apart from that, everything else tasted decent. I enjoyed my slice of banana bread and in particular my flat white. I was also happy to spot a toy box near the counter which had books, a shape sorter and another toy which I can’t remember. Not a huge range, but enough to keep a few kids occupied for a bit.
After brunch, we decided to check out La Barca at Goodman Art Centre. The cousin has been telling me about its good food, service and a good size play room for kids so when Bumble Bee Mum asked me where to next, I knew I had to suggest this kids friendly place to her.
They even have a television/DVD set available in the play room, although the toys and slide in this one should be suffice to keep the kids occupied.
We shared two mains between us, the Homemade Green Angel Hair Pasta with Prawns, Baby Spinach and Cream and La Pizza Con. I wished the Angel Hair Pasta was more al dante for my liking but that didn’t stopped me from finishing the flavourful dish. The pizza was above average with its well melted cheese although I would have liked some prosciutto ham for toppings in addition to the mushrooms. Heh, I know…I’m hard to please.
Would have popped by Cafe Melba for some cake and tea but we were just so full from all the good food and adventures that we just couldn’t put any more food into our mouths. Thank you Bumble Bee Mum for the fun company!
so nice! I’m gg to check it out!
