Hello favourite month of the year! So happy that you’re finally here. I’ve been singing Christmas carols all year long in my heart & soul; you can imagine how thrilled I am to be able to sing it out loud now!
To welcome the first day of the last month of 2015, I decided to pamper myself a little today (and also discuss some work with the cousin while doing our nails together) by dressing up ’em nails in festive colours! It’s a first, having them painted in green but I reckon my manicurist pretty much nailed the merry making mood on all 20 of them. Heh.
On the domestic front, I absolutely underestimated unpacking for a new home. Who would have thought some 3 weekends later, we’ll still be living out of boxes with a few more outstanding items to buy! Someone should write an article on how moving homes and unpacking can be such a pain. I now better appreciate and realise how much I took mum for granted when she helped with 80% of the unpacking a year ago when we moved in.
With the move, I’ve also grown to observe a few things. I hoard way too many things that I have no need for (because they’re still in boxes from the move a year ago and I’ve not missed them enough to take them out of their bubble wrapped packages). And I’m definitely opting for more functional/practical use of space over aesthetics when we shop for our next home. Our current place is driving me nuts with glass fixtures, resort-styled walls and impractical basins that all of the boys (including the husband) have walked into the glass door and banged their head/lips at least once in the last 3 weeks. It has definitely been a good test of my improvisation skills since, with the biggest grouse being that the kitchen is way too small to fit a family with 2 kids.
That said, having a place to call our own has been absolutely surreal. Much to our relief, the boys have settled in rather quickly and happily with the oldest often hurrying us to get back to our new home…probably cause we’ve converted the living room to a huge play space! Can’t wait to have our first gathering in our new place in a few weeks’ time!
Meanwhile, have an awesome December everyone. Gonna start thinking of what to wear to my first Christmas party of the year, which has a rather “naughty” theme.
